Neustadt a.Main

Neustadt a. Main is a community in the Lower Franconian Landkreis Main-Spessart. The village lies directly on the Main River between the City of Lohr and Marktheidenfeld in the nature park Spessart. A special attraction is the Benedictine Monastary, which was founded by the second Bishop of Würzburg Megingaud in 789. As part of the Rothenfel Office of the Hochstift Würzburg the city fell under the rule of Count Löwenstein in Wertheim in 1803. After the mediatisation of 1806 by the Principality Aschaffenburg the town became a part of Bavaria in 1814. During the territory reform in Bavaria the Municipality that we know today was created with the Municipal Edict of 1818.

Neustadt a. Main is located in one of the prettiest sections of the Mainviereck (Main Square). Those who love the hilly structure of the low mountains, the serenity of the forest and a closeness to water will be at home here. Especially the beautiful landscape, the vast forests and the abundance of excursion locations form the backbone of an extraordinary nature experience in a quaint town. The balanced, mild climate is good for effective recreation throughout the year. The suburb of Erlach with its beautiful Mainlände promenade, the small church and the Schiffermast (mast) that can be accessed via the Mainsteg (pier) on foot all invite for a stroll.
