Neustadt-Meet ups
In 1979, the city of Bad Neustadt invited representatives from other towns named Neustadt to a first meeting: the "Neustadt" idea was born. Annual Neustadt meetings have been held ever since. This sparked an overwhelming wave of travel, visits, and connections between the various Neustadt towns.
Soccer clubs organized "Neustadt tournaments"; youth groups, fire departments, veterans’ associations, traditional costume and hiking clubs, chess and singing clubs—they all set out to make friends in other Neustadts, pay return visits, celebrate festivals together, and forge new connections. Entire special trains, countless bus trips, and private family trips have established the Neustadt concept on a broad foundation among the Neustadt population.
For many Neustadt residents, however, the big “Neustadt Meeting”—often with over 1,000 participants from all over Europe—is an annual highlight. Here, people usually celebrate together as part of a large town festival. Old friendships are nurtured and new connections are made.
The next Neustadt Meeting will be held in 2027 in Nieuwstadt, Netherlands.
