Castle festival in Neustadt-Glewe

33rd Neustadt-Glewe Castle Festival from May 29-31, 2026
"A journey through time to the High and Late Middle Ages"

The Castle Festival in Neustadt-Glewe is and remains the highlight of the event calendar in the town of Neustadt-Glewe. It has been a magnet for visitors for over three decades. From May 29-31, 2026, it will once again take place around Neustadt-Glewe Castle. The official organizer and host of the castle festival is the town of Neustadt-Glewe. The town of Neustadt-Glewe is delighted to be able to hold the festival again this year with the same high quality, but with a new theme. The focus will no longer be on the early Middle Ages, as in previous years, but on the high and late Middle Ages. The festival will place greater emphasis on knight camps, armor displays, knight tournaments, and show fights. The 13th-century Neustadt-Glewe Castle, the oldest and best-preserved fortified castle in Mecklenburg, fits perfectly into this era and provides a beautiful backdrop for this major medieval event. A high-quality program will be offered on three stages. Music, juggling, fire shows, market bustle, and historical crafts will be on display. The craft demonstrations in particular invite visitors to join in: blacksmithing, salt boiling, leatherworking, woodturning, cooperage, hand weaving, plant dyeing, bow making, basket weaving, and herbalism are just some of the highlights of the castle festival. In addition, children can complete various hands-on stations and, after passing the test, be crowned a damsel and knighted. The Neustadt-Glewe Castle Association supports the event, as does our beautiful damsel. In addition to hand-cranked carousels, crossbow shooting, and archery, there is a historical water playground where children can let off steam. Of course, taverns, mead and beer stands, wood-fired bakeries, rotisserie skewers, etc. are also a must. Join us this year for the wonderful and unique castle festival and experience history up close at our Neustadt-Glewe Castle, which will be themed "A journey through time to the High and Late Middle Ages." Join us in looking forward to the 33rd Neustadt-Glewe Castle Festival from May 29-31, 2026. Advance ticket sales will start online, as usual, on April 1, 2026.
