Neustadt Meeting 2025 in Neustadt-Glewe


The 47th Neustadt Meeting will take place in Neustadt-Glewe from September 12 to 14, 2025. The festive weekend will be celebrated as part of the 777th town festival under the patronage of the Minister for Science, Culture,
Federal and European Affairs, Ms Bettina Martin, with a varied program.


Programme for the 2025 celebration weekend

Friday, 12.09.2025

Castle area
From 6 p.m., there will be an opening party evening for all guests from the cities arriving, as well as for guests of honor, city representatives and local associations in the large marquee.
Opening by the mayor, the city president and the Minister for Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs. Handover of the baton for "Neustadt in Europa 2026". A cultural program is also planned in coordination with the Neustadt delegations.

Cäsaren-Saal des Hotels Schloss Neustadt-Glewe
13.00 - 14.00
Mayors' Round Table with a small reception for all 36 participating mayors in the Cäsarensaal of the Schloss-Hotel Neustadt-Glewe. The jury decision on the "Neustadt in Europe" project competition will take place during the mayors' meeting.

Inner city

Start of the parade with all delegations through the city.

Castle area
12:00 - 19:00
Presentation of the 36 member municipalities on the Europe Mile (after registration) as well as cultural contributions from the new towns.
Programme as part of the 777th anniversary celebrations with stage, rides, etc.

Offering of sightseeing flights and tandem jumps on the airfield, organized by the air sports club.

Call for projects:

Neustadt in Europe on the occasion of the 47th Neustadt Meeting in Neustadt-Glewe

  • What does Europe mean to you

  • Do you see yourself as an EU citizen?
  • What actually characterizes it, the European way of life?

The coming year 2025 will be the year of the city friendship "Neustadt in Europe" for our city of Neustadt-Glewe. It is one of the largest city friendships in Europe and comprises 36 cities, municipalities and districts with the name "Neustadt" in seven Central European countries, 27 of which are in Germany, two in Austria, three in the Czech Republic, one in Poland, one in the Netherlands, one in the Slovak Republic and one in Romania.

During the celebration weekend from September 12 to 14, 2025, delegations and guests from all these new cities will meet in our city. Together with our guests, we want to host the 47th Neustadt meeting in the history of city friendship here with us and at the same time celebrate the 777th birthday of our city.

On the occasion of the 47th Neustadt meeting in Europe, we would like to invite you to join us. Neustadt meeting in Europe, the following call for projects is being issued for the development and implementation of project ideas on the theme of the European idea:

Conditions of participation:
The project competition is open. Applicants can be: associations, organizations, companies, institutions, school classes, day-care centres and private individuals. The competition is open to all forms. Projects in the fields of art, culture, sport, political education, discussion rounds, workshops and integration are expressly encouraged.

The best project idea will be awarded a prize by a jury. On September 13, 2025, as part of the Neustadt meeting, the mayors of all the Neustadt towns connected in the town friendship will meet in the Cäsarensaal of the castle in Neustadt-Glewe. The mayors present will form the jury for the project competition and announce the winner(s).

Prize:
2-day visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, including a visit and guided tour, the plenary chamber of the European Parliament, the Simone Veil parliamentary building and other exhibitions, travel expenses, accommodation (individuals or groups of max. 10 people)

Competition criteria:

  • The following evaluation criteria must be met when evaluating the participating projects:
    Private individuals, associations, organizations, companies, schools and daycare centres must be based in the town of Neustadt-Glewe.
  • The participating project must be informally notified and described to the Neustadt-Glewe City Council, Central Services Department, by February 15, 2025 at the latest. Only applications submitted on time can be considered. The project can be implemented between February 15, 2025 and the festival weekend in September 2025.

The projects must be dedicated to the European idea:

Thematic blocks:
1. Protection of citizens and freedoms
e.g. further development of a comprehensive migration policy, combating terrorism, cross-border crime and online crime, strengthening the EU's resilience to natural and man-made disasters,

2. Developing a solid and dynamic economic base
e.g. investing in skills and education, implementing the digital transformation and developing a stable industrial policy

3. Achieving a climate-neutral, green, fair and social Europe
e.g. initiatives to improve air and water quality, promote sustainable agriculture and preserve environmental systems and biodiversity

4. Promoting Europe's interests and values in the world
Promoting peace, stability, democracy and human rights in the world, upholding fundamental rights and the rule of law as the cornerstones of equality, tolerance and social justice,
