Neuenstadt am Kocher
With its suburbs Bürg, Cleversulzbach, Kochertürn and Stein am Kocher, Neuenstadt am Kocher is an open, young and dynamic community. The original settlement “Helmbund” was first named in 797. The Ruins of the Gothic Helmbundkirchles (church). Its relocation in the beginning of the 14th Century was the birth of the “Neuen Stadt“ (New City).
Beautiful half-timbered houses, the classical building of the Dr. Carl Möricke Altenstift, old fountains, grand city walls, the gate tower, the former Schöntaler Pflegehof and the Helmbundkirche form the historic landmarks of the city. A very special nature and culture landmark, the 1,000 year-old tilia, fell in 1945 due to a thunderstorm. With its near 100 stone columns, which are decorated with elaborate coats of arms, the tilia park is always worth a visit.
Friends of the theatre are up for a real treat in summer, because the open-air theatreNeuenstadt mesmerises the audience in front of the Neustadt Schloss (castle). The Mörike-Museum in Cleversulzbach is the perfect place to experience the life of Eduard Mörikes. The museum in the Schafstall in Neustadt offers a diverse cultural program and shows exhibits with well-known artists from around the country.
