Neustadt (Hessen)
Surrounded by picturesque tree-covered hills the City of Neustadt (Hesse) with its suburbs Mengsberg, Momberg and Speckswinkel is located at the eastern edge of the rural district of Marburg-Biedenkopf in the middle of Hesse.
Under the powerful court master of the Landgrave of Upper Hesse there was a lot of construction performed in the city. At first the old fort was upgraded to a castle. The Junker-Hansen-Turm, named after its builder then followed, which is thelargest half-timbered round building of the world, and the Catholic city parish church “Hl. Dreifaltigkeit“ (Holy Trinity). This remarkable building is the reason why Neustadt is also known to this day as “The historical city in the Marburg Land“. During a stroll through the inner city you will also discover the historic municipal building and the castle of the House of Linsingen. The highlight of the city is the Trinitatiskirmes (Trinity Sunday Fair) on the weekend after Pentecostal and Carnival.
