Neustadt im Eichsfeld (Gde. Am Ohmberg)

The municipality Am Ohmberg- Suburb Neustadt, in Thuringia and is one of the youngest villages of Eichsfeld. The town is a village settlement in the eastern district of Worbis, approximately 20 km from Leinefelde and east of the Ohm hills. Neustadt (Eichsfeld), first mentioned in a document dated 1 April 1262 as “Nova civitate”, later belonged to Harburg-Worbis, an administrative and judicial district of the Electorate of Mainz.

Listed buildings are among others House and gate entrance no. 18, the Crossing and the Roman Church "St. Simon and Judas Thaddäus" with corresponding décor and the Marian column. A special attraction is the Angerlinde, one of the largest and prettiest tilia (total girth 60 m) of Eichsfeld. The site of the approximately 375 year-old tree is in the centre of town and was set up as the dancing area.

The attractive surroundings of Neustadt invite those searching for recreation to go for a hike. Excursions to Bad Lauterberg and Bad Sachsa can also be taken such as drives to Duderstadt and Nordhausen.
